Woman arrested for identity theft

AUBURN, Ala. - On April 28, 2025, Auburn Police arrested Shanquita Trunisha Washington, age 35, from Auburn, Alabama, on a felony warrant charging her with identity theft.
The arrest stems from the Auburn Police Department receiving a report involving identity theft on March 13, 2025. A victim reported that multiple fraudulent accounts were opened using the victim’s identifying information.
The accounts were opened without the knowledge of the victim during a period of time between Nov. 2024 and March 2025. These accounts were also used to conduct fraudulent transactions, resulting in a balance owed on each account.
Shanquita Trunisha Washington was developed as a suspect. After further investigation, an arrest warrant for identity theft was obtained. Auburn Police located Washington on April 28, 2025, and she was arrested in obedience to the warrant.
Washington was transported to the Lee County Jail and held on a $5,000 bond.
All defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
